Hey everyone, I've been doing a ton of research on steel body armor lately and wanted to drop some knowledge because there's tons of debate out there, so let me break it down — AR500 steel body armor are built to last and much cheaper than high-end ceramic solutions, but the frag and spall problem is something you absolutely cannot ignore if your plate carrier setup doesn't have anti-spall liner, and when you're doing a steel vs ceramic comparison, the sheer weight factor is huge, since Level IV plates in ceramic are significantly less fatiguing even though Level III steel plates in AR500 steel plates can be reused more easily, so honestly any solid body armor buying guide will tell you it boils down to your personal priorities — curious what the community prefers?
